HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE QUR'AN, LESSONS TAKEN FROM SURAH BAQARAH. PART ONE

"Those to whom We have given the Book recite it with its true recital. They [are the ones who] believe in it. And whoever disbelieves in it - it is they who are the losers."- [Surah Baqarah 2:121]

When it comes to the recitation (Tilawah) of the Qur'an, there are three thing in it:
1- The recitation of the words- Meaning if a person studies the meaning of the Qur'an but he never recites the Qur'an
2- The reading of the meaning- If he reads it and learns it by heart, but has no idea what it means
3- Following the Hukm (the command)- Meaning following what you read in the Qur'an, you practice it by staying away from the prohibitions and believing in what it says

Such people Allah says:
أُولَٰئِكَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ
They [are the ones who] believe in it
Lessons from this Ayah:

- Allah gives the Qur'an to many, but not everybody receives it. Meaning, those people who truly receive the Qur'an are those who recite it often, learn what it means and acts upon what it says
- When a person does not recite the Qur'an, then there is a problem with his Iman. If you want to increase your Iman, then recite the Qur'an, understand what it means and act upon it and that will certainly improve your faith

- When a person does not give the Haqq (right) of the Qur'an he suffers great loss. Because Allah says:

"Those to whom We have given the Book recite it with its true recital. They [are the ones who] believe in it. And whoever disbelieves in it - it is they who are the losers."- [Surah Baqarah 2:121]
When a person recites the Book of Allah, for every letter he recites he gets 10 rewards, and on the other hand is a person who does not recite the Qur'an..how much rewards does he get? None..zero
Then you might say he should be neutral, no, he will not stay neutral. Why? Because he is not giving the Haqq of the Book of Allah, those who do not give the right, they don't stay neutral. The Qur'an will complain against him on the Day of Judgement, even the Messenger of Allah ﷺ will complain. Allah says in the Qur'an:
وَقَالَ الرَّسُولُ يَا رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِي اتَّخَذُوا هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ مَهْجُورًا
"And the Messenger will say: “O my Lord! Verily, my people deserted this Qur’an." - [Surah Furqan: 30]
The Arabic word ‘mahjur’ is capable of several meanings. As such, the sentence may mean:” “these people did not regard the Quran as worthy of their consideration: they neither accepted it nor followed it”; or “They considered it to be a nonsense or the delirium of insanity: or “They made it the target of their ridicule and mockery.” (Sheikh Modudi – Tafheem ul Quran).

Subhanallah! Imagine, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ himself complain to Allah about us.. Imagine how helpless our state would be on that Day. May Allah save us all from such a huge loss.
Use this beautiful month of Ramadhan to perfect your relationship with the Qur'an. Start now, In sha Allah
