HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE QUR'AN, LESSONS TAKEN FROM SURAH BAQARAH. PART THREE
How can you develop attachment with the Qur'an?
"Those to whom We have given the Book recite it with its true recital. They [are the ones who] believe in it. And whoever disbelieves in it - it is they who are the losers."- [Surah Baqarah 2:121]
First of all, you can never develop attachment with the Qur'an if you don't read it. Reciting the Qur'an is a very profitable trade. We know that every action, every word of ours in this world carries value..How is that? On the Day of Judgement our statements, our actions, our intentions, everything is going to be viewed. It is going to be checked. And for them we are going to be recompensed, if it is good, then we will rewarded for it, if it is bad then we will be held accountable for it. So when in comes to the recitation of the Qur'an , it is a very profitable trade.
Allah says in the Qur'an-
Indeed, those who recite the Book of Allah and establish prayer and spend [in His cause] out of what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, [can] expect a profit that will never perish
لِيُوَفِّيَهُمْ أُجُورَهُمْ وَيَزِيدَهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِ ۚ إِنَّهُ غَفُورٌ شَكُورٌSubhanallah! Look at this verse, the reward is guaranteed and is increased for those who recite the Qur'an...
That He may give them in full their rewards and increase for them of His bounty. Indeed, He is Forgiving and Appreciative.
- [Surah Fatir verse 29-30]
Lessons-
- We must recite the Qur'an, because we must aspire to be the best
- Take heed from this beautiful hadith
It is reported that one day Abu Hurairah (radiallahu 'anhu) passed through the market place of Madinah and naturally saw people engrossed in the business of buying and selling.
He said to them:
"How feeble are you, O people of Madinah!"Subhanallah! This is what our Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) left for us, and yet still, all we busy ourselves with anything but this...
"What do you see that is feeble in us, Abu Hurayrah?" they asked.
"The inheritance of the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) is being distributed and you remain here! Won't you go and take your portion?"
"Where is this, O Abu Hurayrah?" they asked.
"In the Masjid," he replied.
Quickly they left. Abu Hurayrah waited until they returned. When they saw him, they said: "O Abu Hurayrah, we went to the Masjid and entered and we did not see anything being distributed."
"Didn't you see anyone in the Masjid?" he asked.
"O yes, we saw some people performing Salat, some people reading the Qur'an and some people discussing about what is halal and what is haram."
"Woe unto you," replied Abu Hurayrah, "that is the inheritance of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace."
- Reciting the Qur'an is an act of worship, just like praying Salah, performing Umrah..similarly when it comes to the recitation of the Qur'an, even that is an act of worship. It is an action that Allah loves and He will reward you generously for it.
- The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said-
"Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a ten-fold reward. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter."
[At- Tirmidhi].
On the Day of Judgement, the Day of Hasarah (The day of regret) you know what we will want? We will wish that we had just a few more good deeds, even one more or 10 more or 30 more..because on that Day every good deed matters...When that is the case, how can we then say that we are too bust to recite it now? We cannot do that, if anything, the change has to be done now. On that Day we will definitely regret it, so make use of it now, start now, improve your relationship with the Qur'an now and keep progressing. Don't allow dust to collect over the Book of Allah, shake the dust off and start reciting the words of Allah and Wallah! This is will increase your Imaan.
May Allah accept it from you and from me
