IMPROVE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH ALLAH (Tafseer of Surah Baqarah verse number 112)
I came across the beautiful verse when I was studying the Tafseer of the Qur'an and I thought of giving a detailed explanation of it because it is something that we can deeply ponder and reflect during this blessed month of Ramadhan. And by the way, hope you all are having an amazing Ramadhan and I pray that Allah accepts your Salah, your Du'a, your fast and every little act of good that you do In sha Allah!
Ok, lets get back to the Verse..
"Yes
[on the contrary], whoever submits his face in Islam to Allah while
being a doer of good will have his reward with his Lord. And no fear
will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve."
- [Surah Baqarah, verse 112]
Ponder over the words "Whoever submits his face in Islam", wonder why the face is mentioned? What does it mean he submits his face entirely? If you put your face/head down before Allah, then it means that you are completely obedient to Him, you are showing your humility before Him.
But then again why is the "face" mentioned over here? Well now, its time for you to ponder over your beautiful face..Start with your forehead, what is behind it? Your brain. Come down, what is it? Your eyes, then your mouth, go to your sides, the ears..Subhanallah!
Having this in mind, come back to why the face is mentioned. The face is mentioned because the one who has surrendered his face to Allah, he will use his mind to think, to decide what Allah likes. He will use his eyes to see what Allah approves of, he will use his ears to hear what Allah approves of and he will use his mouth to speak what Allah likes.
Having said that, lets move on to another beautiful word مُحْسِنٌ
The meaning of Muhsin- The one who makes his actions beautiful. This person Allah says-
فَلَهُ أَجْرُهُ
عِنْدَ رَبِّهِ- He will have his reward with Allah. A reward that is great and a reward that is secured.
The lessons we can take from this verse-
The one who guards his mind, eyes, mouth and ears and he is mindful of Allah at all times. He is always aware that Allah is watching him, and he does Ihsan ( to obtain excellence, in worship,
such that he tries to worship Allah as if he can see Him, and although he can't see Allah, he believes that Allah is constantly
watching over him), for such a person, he will have no fear and no regret.
And if a person listens to what Allah does not like, sees what Allah does not like, speaks of Allah does not like and thinks of Allah does not like, then will he have regrets? Of course he will, in this world and in the hereafter.
May Allah forgive us! Every time your heart slips towards a sin, remind yourself of this Ayah, Wallah! It can help you stay away from committing sins.
So use this month of Ramadhan to perfect your relationship with Allah (swt) and to perform such deeds that earn His pleasure and to try as much as we can to stay away from such acts that earn His anger and displeasure.
