Know your Lord- Who is Al-Alim?
“He
is the One Who knows everything in the seven heavens and the seven
earths and whatever is between them and whatever is beneath the ground
and whatever is in the depths of the oceans and who knows the place
where every hair grows and every tree and the place where each leaf
falls and the number of stones there are and the number of the grains of
sand and the number of grains of soil and the weight
of the mountains and all of the actions of the servants and the traces
they leave behind and their speech and every breath they take, He knows
everything, nothing is hidden from Him whilst He is upon the Throne
above the seven heavens, He, the Perfect and Most High.”
_
So He knows whatever was, whatever is and whatever will be before it occurs and He knows the true and hidden reality of everything and He knows whatever is not going to be and how it would be if it were to exist and He has always been the All-Knowing, perfect in His knowledge.
_
Al-‘Alīm:
.
The One Who knows what has been and what will be; Who ever has known, and ever will know, what has been and what will be.His knowledge comprehends all things, the covert and the overt, the small thereof and the great, the possible and the impossible, the lofty and lower spheres, etc. in the most complete manner. Nothing is concealed from Him in the earth or in the heavens.
_
Indeed, Allāh alone has knowledge of the Hour and sends down the rain and knows what is in the wombs. And no soul perceives what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul perceives in what land it will die. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.
.
-|Qur'ān 31:34|
_
“And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it.” -
.
|Surāh al-An`ām: 59
_
If Al-‘Alīm knows every leaf that falls, He also knows what our souls whisper to us. He knows what you are going through, what you are feeling. Your Lord does not forget either; so do not think that anything you have done has gone to waste.
_
He knows when you prevented yourself from doing bad for His sake, so just because you didn’t see the result of your choice immediately, don’t think that it went unnoticed. Some things need patience, and Allāh teaches us with time.

Living by Allah’s Name: Al-‘Alīm
.
Be Conscious of Al-Alīm: When we recognize something of the vastness of Allāh’s knowledge, it should inspire us to be humble. When we realize the completeness of Allāh’s knowledge and that nothing escapes His notice, it should make us more cautious about our actions and inspire us to self-assessment. This is why it is said: the one who knows the most about Allāh, fears Him the most.
.
Accept the Decree of Al-‘Alīm: Allāh’s name Al-‘Alīm instills within our hearts the ability to accept what Allāh has decreed for His creation. We know that what He does is by His knowledge and wisdom. Allāh’s will and power are always in accordance with His knowledge and wisdom. They are always in harmony. Everything takes place by His decree, and His decree accords with His wisdom.
.
When faced with hardship or sorrow, it reassures a believer to know that it is by Allāh’s design, and it becomes easier for the believer to come to terms with it and accept it. Our faith that Allāh is All-Knowing brings us closer to our Lord and makes us feel more strongly that He is with us.
O Al-Alīm, we seek refuge in You from asking that of which we have no knowledge. Guide us to the best ways, increase us in knowledge and help us practice what we learn.
